Responsible Care

Responsible Care was launched by the Canadian Chemical Producer's Association (CCPA) in the mid 1980's and is now practiced in over 52 countries around the world. It is designed to deal more directly and effectively with the public on their concerns regarding chemicals and the impact they make on the world.

This involves a set of initiatives that act as a commitment to making the entire chemical life cycle safer. From research and development of new chemicals, to the end use and disposal of existing chemicals, Responsible Care provides a clear set of guiding principles and codes of practice to which every CCPA member and partner company must comply. Each company is required to "do the right thing" by meeting or exceeding both the letter and spirit of all applicable laws in each stage of their operations.

Transportation Partner codes of practice:

As the latest transportation service provider to become a Responsible Care partner, Northwest has the honor, privilege and challenge to meet the recently revised transportation partner codes of practice, which involve establishing effective management systems relating to:

  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Operational Safety
  • Environment
  • Security
  • TransCAER
